Lovely art deco style hotel with modern amenities and a couple nice bars in the same building (one at the lobby level and another at the very top of the building). Definitely a prime location to be staying in if you wanna walk to any of the nearby shops, restaurants, and bars as well.

Great hotel and great location. Very walkable city with excellent bars and restaurants nearby. As in previous reviews the valet parking could take up to 30 min to get your car, not a big deal for us, just plan ahead. You could also self park, parking garage is 1.5 blocks away. We will be back.

I stayed there in early May of 2025 and found my experience overall enjoyable. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, and the location of the hotel is nice - I really liked the history of the place. The only drawback I found is the parking. It was very busy during my three-night stay there and parking was always an issue.

We had a very pleasant stay here after a long day of driving! It was great to be in downtown Rapid City in a historically significant building. Cynthia at the front desk was very helpful and friendly! The view from the rooftop bar is lovely as well.

We stayed at the AJ for 4 nights in April 2025. The hotel is clean and a very central location. We were able to walk for dinner, drinks, coffee (check out Speed Goat), shopping, and breweries. The rooftop bar is super fun with panoramic views of Rapid City. I enjoyed our stay and would feel comfortable staying here again. The gift shop attached is also super cute!

Located in the middle of downtown, parking is severely limited so you either have to pay the meter or pay the valet. The latter is better. CYNTHIA was the best receptionist and she made me feel very welcome. I LOVE HER!!! Full of suggestions, opportunities and an overall delight to conversate with!!!
